Foundry

Hardening the body, refining the soul.

A foundry is a place where metals and scraps are melted down and given new shape and purpose.Within Foundry, the same is true of those who step through the gates--whether a veteran or novice, all are given the same goal: to train, improve, and transcend.

Mission Statement

Foundry shall exist to fulfill its mission and vision. This is a testimony to both its current and future goals.

Mission

We will operate as a group of mercenaries, accepting and carrying out work where our talents and abilities are sought. Some will seek muscle.
Others will seek knowledge.
Further still will seek support.
Our business is supplementing those who seek the above.

Vision

Independently, we will seek to operate as a neutral entity and adopt the disposition of our contractor. Business relationships and alliances may come with time, but excluding those we will operate under the reality that today's ally may be tomorrow's enemy, and vice versa. In order to grow both our ranks and valuation for prospective clients, we will undertake a steady regime of recruitment and training. Any who would volunteer themselves to our employ will be provided a route of improvement, with the understanding that their application in the field will be used to offset the cost of this training.

Tenets

Principles of Foundry

The Forge Has No Allegiance

We are neutral by design. Outside of standing contracts or alliances formally recognized by the Forgemasters, no member speaks or acts on behalf of a faction, house, or cause only on behalf of whoever has paid for our service. Today's employer may be tomorrow's target. Members are expected to set that aside the moment a new contract is signed.

The Contract Is Fulfilled

Once terms are struck, they are honored fully, and only to the letter agreed upon. No member renegotiates terms mid-contract, withholds effort, or extends favor to a third party at the client's expense. Breach of contract is a Foundry matter, not just a personal one, and will be answered by the Forgemasters directly.

Rank Is Earned, Not Claimed

Advancement is decided by demonstrated contribution and conduct, not seniority or self-declaration. Ore prove themselves to become Iron. Iron prove themselves to become Steel. No member may claim authority over another without the rank to back it.

Steel Carries Those Below Them

Steel are not officers, but they are accountable for the conduct and growth of Iron and Ore around them. If a junior member strays from the tenets, the senior who failed to guide them shares in that failure.

Training Is Owed Back to the Foundry

Every Ore is an investment. The skills, contacts, and protection the Foundry provides during the probationary period are repaid through field contribution once rank is earned.

Slag Can Be Redeemed

Failure does not mean exile first. Those who break faith with the tenets, underperform, or compromise a contract may be sent to Slag rather than removed outright. This is reformation, not humiliation: a second chance bought with discipline. A second fall from Iron, however, is rarely met with a third chance.

Forgemasters Speak for the Foundry's Present and Future

Disputes about long-term direction, new alliances, or the Foundry's reputation, day-to-day contract execution, discipline, and order rise to the Forgemasters. Others do not speak for the Foundry unless expresssly stated.

What Happens in the Field, Stays Accounted For

Every contract successful, failed, or compromised gets reported up the chain. The Foundry's value to clients depends on accurate accounting of its own track record, even when the truth is unflattering.

Foundry Training & Dice

Training

Training is fundamental to the refining process of Foundry. It is expected of members to always strive to improve, or help others do so.As such, there is a (optional, for-fun) training system which you can use to track your character's growth and improvement.
This system is not essential to be a part of Foundry and should be taken on voluntarily.

Event System

Foundry will participate in some PvP and PvE engagements.PvP will follow Grindstone Rules using either a true random or d20.In the case of PvE, we will face a wide variety of opposition: the hunt of a dangerous beast, clearing a den of bandits, or battling some ancient horror beyond our comprehension. In those times, we utilize a simple D20 system that requires no sheet-setup. You can jump in and know what you're doing mid-event within 5 minutes.
